Earn the Trifecta Pin by making the Horsey Hundred a 3-day event!
In 2013 the Bluegrass Cycling Club began offering Horsey Hundred guests the opportunity to experience some of its most popular weekday rides. This extra day of riding became very popular. In 2018 the Trifecta pin was envisioned as a reward for an extra day’s effort. In 2019 we had over 500 participate in the Friday rides across 5 ride start locations. 300 of these dedicated riders earned the Trifecta pin, which is awarded to riders who complete 3 consecutive days of riding.
As a result of this growth, we’ve had to look for a new way for riders to enjoy their rides. To accommodate the increasing popularity, we have revised our program to simplify logistics. This year there will be one ride location with a spectacular view and plenty of parking. We’ve picked 2 routes (22 & 34 miles). To make it as convenient as possible for you to join in on the fun, the routes are open from 9 am until 3 pm, so you can start your ride anytime between those hours. This should allow plenty of time to stop and take a picture or two. There won’t be organized rest stops, so you’ll want to bring your own supply of water and snacks. We will have SAG support available for major mechanical break downs.
The ride will have maps available at the start, and routes will be marked on the roads. You will need to sign in and check back at the start location. You might even come across one of the local BCC riders on the route to offer information or guidance if needed.
Start Location: 4175 Lexington Rd, Versailles, KY 40383
Friday: Sign the required release at the Friday ride starting location and pick up your Trifecta wrist band. Riding from the designated location is the only ride that counts as your first day of riding. Check back in when you complete your Horsey Friday ride.
Saturday: Ride like the wind. There is no specific route requirement. Ride your route at your pace and you’ve completed the second leg of the Trifecta. There is no ride sign in or check in requirement for Saturday. It’s a free day to enjoy the Horsey Hundred. Make sure to hang on to that wrist band because you will need to show it when you check in on Sunday.
Sunday: Ride the route of your choice, short or long, fast or slow, it is up to you. After your ride, stop in at the Kentucky Cycling Challenge / Trifecta table, present your wrist band, and collect your Trifecta Pin. Trifecta check in will be from 10 am to 4 pm, or until we run out of pins. Check in will be under a tent close to the Horsey finish line.
